Bill Gates: Getöte Schwule in Uganda nicht so wichtig

Bill Gates, der Gründer des Microsoft-Konzerns, zählt zu den reichsten Menschen der Welt. Sein Vermögen nutzt er aber auch, um mit seiner Stiftung die HIV/AIDS-Forschung zu unterstützen. In Anbetracht dieses sozialen Engagement und der gewichtigen Stimme von Bill Gates hat die “Seattle Times” den Microsoft-Gründer auch zum “Anti-Homosexuellen-Gesetz” im afrikanischen Staat Ugande befragt. Die Antwort ist ernüchternd und erschütternd zugleich.

Die US-Amerikanische Zeitung “The Seattle Times” interviewte Microsoft-Gründer Bill Gates zu seinem Engagement im Kampf gegen Aids. Da HIV/Aids besonders am afrikanischen Kontinent eine große Herausforderung darstellt, kam die Reporterin auch auf das “Anti-Schwulen-Gesetz” in Uganda zu sprechen.

So fragte sie ihn, ob er von diesem Gesetz betroffen sei und ob er persönlich mit jemandem diesbezüglich gesprochen habe. Die Fragestellung der Reporterin im Wortlaut:

Looking at health efforts in Africa, such as HIV prevention and treatment, are you concerned about the Ugandan anti-homosexuality bill, and have you spoken to anyone there about it?

Bill Gates Antwort ist eine Ohrfeige für homosexuelle Männer. So meinte er auf die Frage:

The spread of AIDS is a huge problem and obviously we’re very involved. I talk in my letter about the great success with this male circumcision effort, and preventative drug trials. There’s a tendency to think in the U.S. just because a law says something that it’s a big deal. In Africa if you want to talk about how to save lives, it’s not just laws that count. There’s a stigma no matter what that law says, for sex workers, men having sex with men, that’s always been a problem for AIDS. It relates to groups that aren’t that visible. AIDS itself is subject to incredible stigma. Open involvement is a helpful thing. I wouldn’t overly focus on that. In terms of how many people are dying in Africa, it’s not about the law on the books; it’s about getting the message out and the new tools.

Zunächst kann an der Antwort von Bill Gates, der im Interview übrigens auch Atomkraft als Chance im Kampf gegen den Klimawandel sieht, da CO2-neutral, recht wenig ausgesetzt werden, doch die letzten 3 Sätze sind eine bodenlose Frechheit.

Demnach ist die Annahme, dass es Bill Gates “wurscht” ist, wenn Menschen einzig und allein aufgrund ihrer sexuellen Orientierung ermordet und verfolgt werden, absolut legitim. Laut Gates kommt es also auf ein paar getötete homosexuelle Männer nicht an. Diese Aussage ist jedenfalls ein absolutes Armutszeugnis für einen Mann mit (wohl nicht gan uneigennützigem) sozialen Engagement, wie Bill Gates.

Wie meinte Steven Milverton passend:

Auf ein paar tote Menschen mehr oder weniger kommt es also nicht an, schon gar nicht, wenn sie schwul sind.
